Sample report · Initial opportunity review

Our own outreach opportunity review.

We reviewed Mentionlane to show what we investigate, what we find and what we would do next.

The goal

Reach businesses looking for help with backlinks and brand mentions.

We reviewed three pages: an agency roundup, a directory and a tools list. Our recommendation is to investigate the first two routes and exclude the third as an inclusion pitch target.

The angle for Mentionlane: a managed service with public scope and pricing, support in English and Spanish and reporting on published coverage.

01 · Agency roundup

To qualify

Cutting Edge PR

Best link building agencies in 2026 (ranked & reviewed)

What we found
The article includes OutreachZ, Siege Media and Page One Power. We did not find Mentionlane in the reviewed text.
Why it matters
It covers hiring a link building agency, so the type of service matches Mentionlane.
Our recommendation
Check how agencies are selected and whether updates are considered. Prepare service evidence before proposing inclusion; editorial and commercial terms still need verification.

02 · Agency directory

Assess terms

DesignRush

Best Link Building Companies

What we found
The category page features agencies including LinkBuilder.io and offers sponsored sorting.
Why it matters
It is a place to compare providers. An agency profile and an editorial recommendation are different outcomes.
Our recommendation
Check profile requirements and separate free eligibility from paid options. Assess any quote against the audience it could reach, without assuming sponsorship improves search rankings.

03 · Tools list

Excluded

Ahrefs

The Only 9 Link-Building Tools You Need in 2024

What we found
The selection includes tools such as Ahrefs, Hunter.io and Buzzstream for doing link building.
Our recommendation
Do not pitch Mentionlane as another tool for this list. We sell a managed service. Sharing a topic is not enough to make a page a good opportunity.

The next decision

Prepare the evidence and check the terms.

We would start with a short Mentionlane brief: what the service includes, who it fits and what we can demonstrate. We would then check the roundup’s inclusion criteria and the directory’s terms. The tools list stays out of this shortlist.

A point-in-time review of these three public pages, consulted on 10 September 2026. This sample records research before outreach; it does not record won placements or measure rankings, traffic or mentions in AI answers. Pages and their terms can change.

Your report adds progress and published coverage.

The initial review sets the direction. During a campaign, these are the sections you receive with your brand’s data.

Publisher, article URL, date checked, how your brand is described and which page it links to. Sponsorship and link attributes are identified.
Outreach progress
Totals for publishers contacted, replies and outstanding proposals. Outreach activity and published results are counted separately.
AI observations
For the agreed questions: the system, exact question, date and whether your brand appears. Source citations are recorded separately.
Next priorities
Which pitch angles are getting replies, what information an editor needs and where we’ll focus the next round of work.
